CMX (finally) responds

June 30th, 2006

As taken from the AnimeOnDVD forums:

Hello, this is Asako Suzuki, Director of Manga at CMX.

First of all, thank you very much for your great interest in our titles.

The CMX version of Tenjho Tenge has been a hot topic for months. We are aware that some manga fans are upset with our version of Tenjho Tenge, and it has not been easy for us to take in the criticism. We respect our readers, yet it is not possible to please everyone.

Although we do have frequent, internal discussions about the possibility of publishing an unedited version of Tenjho Tenge, we believe our focus now should be to complete the current version.

There are many people who enjoy CMX version Tenjho Tenge, who might otherwise be unable to read it, and in fact, it is one of our best-selling titles. We don’t think it would be fair to deprive some of those loyal readers of their favorite title so far into the series.

We do want to let you know that we are very grateful for the immense cooperation we receive from Oh! great, Tenjho Tenge creator, who takes a great deal of time to inspect each volume and every one of our editorial changes.

We hope that our commitment to continue publishing the current version of Tenjho Tenge will not discourage our readers from picking up other CMX titles. We produce a wide variety of titles and we are proud to present every one of them. Publishing manga is a learning process, and we are learning something new every day. At last, but not least, please note that Tenjho Tenge will be rated “Teen Plus” from its 9th volume to indicate more precise direction to our readers.

CMX strives to be a good manga publisher, and we welcome your feedback.

Again, we appreciate your readership and support.

Asako Suzuki
Director, CMX

Additional comments were made in another post:

At this moment, I cannot add any more to my statement from yesterday as to Tenjho Tenge, but I had to post this message to thank you all for your comments.

Though our decision, to continue publishing the current version of Tenjho Tenge, may have disappointed many of you, please know, it was not made TO upset you.

We are grateful for your feedback - whether they are sweet or bitter (or spicy?), we truly appreciate your commens. Have you noticed some of our improvements in the past year? Those good changes couldn’t have been made without your support.

Once again, thank you.

Asako Suzuki
CMX Director

CMX at Anime Expo 2006

June 22nd, 2006

CMX Director Asako Suzuki and CMX Editor Jim Chadwick will be representing CMX at Anime Expo 2006, which is being held at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, California from July 1st to July 4th.  Go bug them at the CMX booth about the TenTen edits and if we can ever expect an uncensored version.

And yes, I realize the site’s been neglected.  Free time’s a commodity these days, but I promise I will have another update before AX happens, including edits for recent volumes as well as images.

Volume 4 & Volume 5 Edits

April 7th, 2006

Additonal edits have been found in Volumes 4 and 5 by Natsume Maya, who was also kind enough to provide comparison images for Volumes 3 and 4, which will be posted soon along with edits made in Volume 6.

Volume 03 Comparison Images Uploaded; More Scans Needed

February 18th, 2006

Click here to see them.  Edits 2, 22 and 31 do not have images due to my lack of material available for them.  To put images for those up, I will need the following scans:

  • The back cover for the original Japanese release
  • Page 083 of the CMX release
  • Page 206 of the original Japanese release

I will also need scans for panels and pages marked as being edited in Volumes 4 and 5 from the CMX release.  If you have those available, please send them my way.

Site Relaunch

February 15th, 2006

The site has been relaunched, now powered by WordPress.

What’s new:

  • The Campaign page has been slightly updated.
  • Edits for Volumes 1-5 have been listed; only Volume 1 and Volume 2 contain comparison images.  Images for Volumes 3-5 will be added as soon as possible.
